DONATION PROGRAM

As a registered charity, NS Trails can help your trail group fundraise!  When generous donors want to make a contribution to your group, they can do so through us in one of two ways:  through our online partner CanadaHelps, or by cheque.

Donations made through NS Trails are disbursed to members on a monthly basis, and the funds can be sent to you either by e-transfer, direct deposit, or by cheque.  You will also receive a breakdown of all provided donor information, so that you may send thank-you messages if you so choose.

If your group would like to participate in our donation program, please reach out to sally@novascotiatrails.com to get started!

CanadaHelps

Online donations can be made through our online portal here: Donate Now!  Donors will automatically receive a tax receipt from CanadaHelps.

When using this portal, donors will have the option to choose the group that they would like their gift directed to from a drop-down menu.  We can also work with you to create your very own, group-specific donation portal that you can host on your group’s website.

*To have your group added to the drop-down list or to create your own donation portal, please reach out to sally@novascotiatrails.com*

There is a 10% admin fee applied to all donations made via CanadaHelps.

Cheque Donations

Donation cheques must be made out to the Nova Scotia Trails Federation, and be accompanied by a message from the donor to indicate which group the donation should be designated to.  Cheques should be mailed to:

Nova Scotia Trails Federation

5516 Spring Garden Road, 4th Floor

Halifax, NS  B3J 1G6

Donors will receive a tax receipt from NS Trails either in the mail or via email – whichever they prefer.  There is a 10% admin fee applied to all donations made by cheque, which is capped at $100.  PLEASE NOTE: This $100 cap applies only to cheque donations, not to donations made via CanadaHelps.  For this reason, we recommend that any donation of $1,000 or more be made via cheque, to avoid excessive admin fees.
