Our Mission
NS Trails is a volunteer, membership-based registered charity, a resource for trail stakeholders, and a forum to facilitate the cooperative building, maintaining, and enjoyment of trails in our province.
Our Vision
A diverse and vibrant trails community exists in Nova Scotia that works respectfully and collaboratively so that all Nova Scotians and visitors have easy access to safe and enjoyable trail experiences.
Our Values
The Nova Scotia Trails Federation (NS Trails) is guided by the following core values:
Empowerment:
We endeavor to ensure our volunteer trail managers feel supported and have access to the guidance, information and best practices they need to be their best.
Dedication:
Our Board of Directors, staff and trail volunteers across the province are dedicated to ensuring Nova Scotians and visitors have access to enjoyable recreational trail experiences. Our community trails in Nova Scotia exist due to the countless volunteer hours given passionately and freely by our valued and dedicated trail volunteers.
Inclusion:
We aspire to be a welcoming and diverse organization that attracts, retains and values talented people from all backgrounds. Access to our member trails is low to no cost and open to all.
Collaboration:
We believe collaboration is the key to our organization’s strength and success. We work in positive and cooperative partnerships to make the most of the resources available to NS Trails and our partners. We are committed to mutual trust and respect.
Stewardship:
We promote trail etiquette and Leave No Trace principles to educate trail users about the importance of mitigating recreational impacts on our trails and the natural environment that surrounds them.
Integrity:
We understand that our success and reputation depends on our integrity as an organization. We conduct ourselves in accordance with the highest standards of professional and personal behavior and ethics.
