NS Trails Launches New Online Trail Guide
January 17, 2020 – The Nova Scotia Trails Federation (NS Trails) and Recreation Nova Scotia are thrilled to announce the launch of its new online Trail Guide featuring hundreds of trails in Nova Scotia. The guide can be found on the NS Trails website at http://www.nstrails.com/trailguide. The Nova Scotia Trail Guide is the ultimate resource to find details on land trails, water routes and volunteer community-based trail organizations throughout the province.
The new site will allow users to search for trail opportunities by keyword, location, trail type or a kilometre radius from a specific address. Search results offer trail descriptions, photographs and maps. The guide will make it easy for Nova Scotians and visitors alike to connect with the many enjoyable trail experiences in the province.
The trail guide was built in partnership with Recreation Nova Scotia and their NS Connect regional partners along with the Province of Nova Scotia. “The development of the trail guide demonstrates NS Trails’ commitment to the recently released Shared Strategy for Trails in Nova Scotia,” says Vanda Jackson, CEO of Nova Scotia Trails. “We are pleased that the new guide addresses Goal 4.2 of the recently released Shared Strategy for Trails in Nova Scotia which recommends up-to-date information and resources that support trail use.”
“There are significant health benefits for individuals when they are able to connect to nature,” says Crystal Watson, Executive Director of Recreation Nova Scotia. “The launch of the Trail Guide aligns with Goal 3 of the Shared Strategy for Advancing Recreation in NS and we are excited to see this vision come to life to further support individual and community wellbeing.”
The guide will officially launch at 11am, Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Ashburn Golf Club in Halifax in the Ashburn Ballroom. Ceilidh Millar of CTV Morning Living will emcee the launch event. The announcement will be followed by a stroll on the nearby Chain of Lakes Trail.
